Photo Facial - Photo Genesis (IPL)
Compare the skin of a child to your own and you will see how
the child's skin has a natural radiance, uniform color, and smooth texture.
By the time we are in our 30's most of us will exhibit skin changes from
sun exposure. Such changes include, rosacea, brown spots, freckles, age
spots, blotchiness, dry or even leathery texture, not to mention wrinkling
and sagging skin as collagen breaks down. Skin damage caused by the sun
is known as photoaging. One
of the best ways to assess how much photoaging you have is to compare
the skin on your face to the skin on an area of your body that has had
minimal sun exposure such as the side of the breast or buttock. Though
we all may love the sun, it can make us look old before our time.
Photo Genesis is an innovative way to quickly, safely and comfortably treat skin redness, rosacea, brown spots and sun damage on virtually any part of your body. The face, chest, shoulders, arms and hands are the most popular areas treated because they typically have had the most sun exposure.
The pulsed light delivered by the Cutera Xeo IPL 560 is selectively absorbed by the pigmented spots and red areas in the epidermal layer of your skin. This is what we refer to as Level 1 skin rejuvenation since the target is in the outermost layer of the skin. By heating the pigmented cells, they are destroyed and you will see your complexion clear, revealing more youthful looking skin within just a few treatments. However you will need to protect your skin from further damage and sun exposure with effective sunscreens, which we can recommend to you.
Procedure: We always perform a test patch before proceeding with the procedure. Goggles are placed over your eyes for protection. No gel or topical anesthetic is required, making the procedure less messy. When the pulse of light is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief pinching sensation. The actual treatment usually takes less than fifteen minutes, making it convenient for your lunch hour or after work. Following the procedure, you may notice some initial reddening of the skin and brown spots may slightly darken. Then over the next one to three weeks, the darkened spots fade and flake off as your complexion becomes clearer.
Potential Side Effects: Mild erythema is common following the procedure and usually resolves with in a few hours. Rarely blistering and pigment changes may occur but are usually temporary. Performing a test patch helps to avoid serious side effects, especially if you have recently tanned or exhibit actinic bronzing.
Recommended number of treatments: While you will certainly see results with only 1 treatment, we recommend 5 treatments at 2 to 3 week intervals for maximum results.
